The potential marsh forest apicultural species in their present floristic composition

Abstract
The beekeeping flora is the group of vegetable species that provides food to the bees. With the objective to contribute to knowledge of the beekeeping productivity through the valuation of the beekeeping botanic potential of the swamp forest in its present floristic composition, was realized an inventory of species in the swamp forest El Pato, in Güines locality, province of Mayabeque. From the 33 beekeeping species identified, that represent 65 % of the species present in the forest, 13 species are classified like national interest for the Apiculture: three, main crop; six, secondary crop; and four, maintenance. The beekeeping species identified, for its flowering periods makes possible the honey production with Apis mellifera, and for its botanical characteristics facilitate the natural existence of Melipona beecheii in the forest. The botanical potentiality valuation of the swamp forest permits to define management profiles for the substitution of the vegetable exotic species.
