Variation of fruits and seeds of Casuarina equisetifolia L. in two locations of the Agroforestry Mayarí Enterprise
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research was carried out in the towns of Mina Ocujal and Cabonico, belonging to the Mayarí Agroforestry Company, province of Holguín, in 2016, with the objective of determining the morphological variations of fruits and seeds between Casuarina equisetifolia L trees to know the differences between the study locations. A 50 x 10 m transect sampling was performed in two stages. A sample size of 20 trees and 15 fruits per tree was determined; the production of seeds by fruit was also counted. The weight of the fruit was the most variable characteristic. Significant differences were found between trees and fruits according to the comparison of means in the variables. In the correlation matrix there was a high degree of association with its weight and width. It was found that in the town of Mina Ocujal sampled trees produce more seeds.
