Abstract
La Estación Hidrológica Forestal Amistad, del Instituto de Investigaciones Agro- Forestales de Cuba, ubicada en el macizo forestal de Galalón, en la provincia de Pinar del Río, arriba a sus 41 años de existencia. Se trata de un laboratorio natural que ha aportado valiosas informaciones acerca de la función hidrorreguladora de los bosques y su inestimable papel en la preservación de los recursos hídricos. Hoy constituye un Centro de Capacitación de alcance nacional e internacional, que brinda posibilidades a investigadores, especialistas y técnicos en general, de adquirir los conocimientos necesarios para la elaboración de pronósticos y recomendaciones a la esfera productiva, acerca del impacto, que sobre el balance hídrico y la calidad de las aguas, tienen los distintos tipos de talas, tratamientos silvícolas, plantaciones forestales y el uso general del suelo.
Las páginas de la Revista Forestal Baracoa reflejarán los resultados como aporte de conocimientos sobre la hidrología y la ciencia forestal en el trópico.
