Determination of the effectiveness of insecticides against Hypsipyla grandella zeller (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) in cedar plantations

Abstract
This research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of three organosynthetic insecticides in cedar plantations (Cedrela odorata L.) interspersed with banana (Musa paradisiaca L.) in Alquízar, Cuba. The treatments were three insecticides and control (water application). The products evaluated were: Duple (acephate + cypermethrin) at dose of 8 kg/ha; Confidor (imidacloprid) at doses of 0.75 kg/ha and Mospilan (acetamiprid), at doses of 1 kg/ha. For the tests a randomized block design with four treatments and four replications with at least 12 plants for each combination were performed. It turned out that weekly treatment of Duple and Confidor reduced the number of attacks by plants, however, the percent effectiveness was low. Weekly applications Mospilan significantly reduced the number of attacks by plants. In conclusion Mospilan was the most effective product to control Hypsipyla.
