Evaluation of the impacts of the increase of the average level of the sea in the EFI Cienfuegos. Adaptation strategy
Main Article Content
Abstract
Based on the A1C scenario, for a high climate sensitivity (of 4.2 °C), the expected impacts that by sea level rise would affect the coastal forests of the Cienfuegos Integral Forestry Company for scenarios 2030, 2050 and 2085. For each scenario, the affected areas in hectares and species for each silvicultural unit are evaluated and a proposal for adaptation strategy is made. By the end of 2085, the natural coastal forests should be expected to be affected mainly by Rhizophora mangle L., with 58.6 ha and Coccoloba uvifera Jacq. 3.52 ha representing 0.8 % of the total area of study. The Cienfuegos silvicultural unit will be the most affected in terms of the loss of 57.84 ha of mangroves. By the end of 2085, 62.12 ha of coastal forests will be lost, representing 0.2 % of their heritage, which will be submerged under the sea.
