Eight functional valuation indicators, for the ecological restoration of degraded territories in Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of Functional Values Indicators (IVF) is to rescue degraded areas and provide a practical and scientific - methodological tool for the recovery of soils and the forest tapestry of impacted wild sites. 8 IVF are studied in this 1st part, based on the Strategies of the Functional Groups of Species, in the context of the following abilities: A) Adaptive or Survival skills in the wild site, B) Reproductive, Regenerative and Propagation and C) Competitive or population predominant the functional groups of species, which occupy ecological niches, according to successional stages. As a result, the indicators are part of The Terrestrial Ecological Restoration Methodology for Cuba. As a conclusion, the 3 strategies include the functional groups of species from the 1st to 4th successional level, with taxa: Pioneers (Exuberant), Colonizers (Opportunists, Restorers, Repairers), Stabilizers (Austere, Resistant, Efficient) and Retarded), Re-forestry, with silvicultural methods of proven effectiveness and application in Cuba.
