Abstract

Model Forest is a unique approach, based on partnerships of stakeholders in order to implement sustainable forest management policies. In order to meet the management of the species Bambusa vulgaris Schrader ex Wendlan under the conditions of Model Forest, Manacas´s Savanna, in the central region of Cuba, Villa Clara province, Plantations were five years old, set on a yellowish Ferralitic soil, were stablished temporary sampling plots to determine the number of individuals by diameter class dasometric measured variables, external diameter of the culm, culm inner diameter and total height of stems. From these variables was calculated, the external volume of the culm, culm internal volume, solid volume and biomass. The determination of the structural composition and its relationship with existing international structure allowed us to establish the proposed management of the area and B. vulgaris, is adapted to the soil and climate of the Model Forest Manacas Savanna which are not the most suitable for these plants.
