Impacts of climatic change in forestry sector of the Zapata peninsula, Matanzas, Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
According to the references of the Intergubernamental Panel of Climatic Change (IPCC, 2007), the insulars countries and the low coastal areas are the danger zones to suffer the impacts for the increase of level sea. For this reasons, Cuba as insular country, and the forestry sector, identified the Zapata Peninsula as the danger area because this region present low incline and it’s the second natural forest region (81 % of the natural forest in the province and 14 % in Cuba) [Diago, 2007], it’s know as the bigger mangrove of the Insular Caribbean Region with a big biologycal diversity. This region due to the condition of mangrove and low slope, it’s one the bigger dangers due to increase of level sea, but this region not have one evaluation about the interrelation between the forest and climatic change.
