Diagnosis of mesquite reforestations and methods to increase its efficiency in Durango, México
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective was to diagnose the quality and to identify methods to increase the efficiency of the reforestations realised with mesquite in Durango. They were evaluated 17 lots established during 2009 and 2010 like action of reforestation in the name of God (5), Cuencamé (4), Lerdo (2), Pánuco de Coronado (2), Tlahualilo (2), Durango (1) and Mapimí were evaluated (1). The evaluations of realised between January and February of 2011, by means of systematic sampling of circular type and only in town 10 of April, linear sampling was realised. In 2011 an experimental lot in Complete Blocks settled down at random to evaluate the effect of four doses (0, 20, 30 and 40 g/plant) of hydrogel in the condition of plants of mesquite 63 days after the transplant. The basal diameter of the stem varied between 1,5 cm (San Jose de Acevedo P1) up to 5,5 cm in Hills of San Juan and 10 of April. Low percentage of survival in all the plantations of mesquite realised between 2009 and 2010 were observed in Durango. One of the most important factors in the low survival was hydric stress, reason why the use of hydrogel for the water retention was validated. The treatment with 20 g of hydrogel showed possibilities for its use in the increase of the survival of plants of mesquite.
