Insect diversity in Pinus Cubensis Griseb. forests at the Baracoa Agroforestry Company

Abstract
The research was carried out in Pinus cubensis G. plantations belonging to the Baracoa Agroforestry Company. To do so, the objective was to determine the diversity of insects associated with P. cubensis G. forests. The inventories were carried out in five locations (Palma Clara Vivero, Palma Clara Comunidad, La Vigía, Alto de Florida and Salto del Indio) that have pine plantations, where plots were surveyed using the zig-zag transect method, using temporary strips of 100 m, to determine the entomofauna and the biological diversity indices. The inventory yielded six orders of insects which group 21 families and 27 species. The five sampled locations presented homogeneous evenness, low species abundance and dominance, where Palma Clara and La Vigía presented the greatest richness. The most frequent and abundant species were Dioryctria horneana and Ips grandicollis, and Ips calligraphus is reported for the first time for the municipality.
